All original Seiko 5ACTUS from 1970 in stunning, near mint condition. Index markers, “Seiko” logo, date window and hands appear mint with the high polish that Seiko has become legendary for. The iridescent gray dial is near mint. I found the iridescence hard to photograph. The very 70’s case has been lightly re-finished and presents beautifully. Crystal is as new, generic replacement. The bracelet is original, signed “SEIKO 5ACTUS”, will fit up to approx. 20 cm wrist. The 7019A movement is the workhorse of the Seiko range. Introduced in 1969 (the 7005) it has stood the test of time, its descendants being still in production. It has just been professionally overhauled/serviced and functions perfectly. Water resistance, accidental damage and accuracy, within reason, is not guaranteed.Overhaul/Service Explained I am often asked about what an overhaul entails. So I have started adding a photo of the movement, disassembled ready to go through the cleaning machine. All old dried up lubricants, crud and anything else that shouldn’t be there is cleaned away. Then, the movement is reassembled, lubricated, adjustments made and regulated. Routinely, the back and the crown seals are replaced (where possible) as are the spring lugs. The case is lightly re-finished if necessary. Also the glass is re-polished if required and possible. International buyers; Postage cost includes insurance. The purchaser is responsible for any import duty and/or taxes. Please be aware that, in recent times, international postage is experiencing longer than usual delays. SEIKO 5 HISTORY (provided by a colleague trading on Ebay as market*master):First released in late 1963 the Original Seiko 5 is a modified SEIKO SPORTSMATIC.Seiko decided they needed an affordable watch that was versatile and durable. An everyday device that could handle a wide variety of different situations and environments. So was born the ‘5’ concept.The ‘5’ came from the 5 features they wanted to incorporate into the watch.These were:1. Automatic winding2. Day/date display3. Water resistance4. About vintage mechanical watches:A vintage mechanical watch will not perform like a modern quartz (electronic) watch. Also, with age comes fragility and it may no longer be ideal as a daily wearer. It should be treated for what it is, something old, classical and special. Treat it as you would a vintage car – not ideal to use as a “daily driver”. Keep it in the condition at which you bought it and it will hold or, indeed, increase its value. Use it every day and it will go backwards.About Me:I am a born again watchmaker!
